OCZ has entered the SSD race by announcing a series of ultra-fast OCZ SATA II 2.5″ Solid State Drives. The series contains two models, 32GB and 64GB, both sporting 120MB/s read speed and 100MB/s write speed.

Patriot is the next memory manufacturer to jump onto the solid state train. It has unveiled a whole range of drives of both the 2.5″ and 3.5″ formfactors, with capacities up to 256GB.

Samsung is the first manufacturer to actually ship 500GB 2.5″ harddrives. Fujitsu and Hitachi have also announced the intention of launching 500GB 2.5″ harddrives, but none of them have actually delivered yet.
