ATI is the first graphics card manufacturer to have its graphics cards officially certified for the new DisplayPort interface. VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) has officially certified ATI Radeon HD 3400, Radeon HD 3600, Radeon HD 3800 and ATI FireMV 2260, and the IGP AMD 780G for DisplayPort.

VR-Zone has learned that Nvidia is preparing to shrink G92 process technology from 65nm to 55nm to better compete against the upcoming RV770.

According to a study made by Jon Peddie Research, NVIDIA gained even more market shares in Q4, 2007. NVIDIA gained 7 percentages, from 64 to 71, leaving AMD with less than a third of the discrete graphics card market.

Now that AMD has released the Catalyst 8.3 drivers, CrossFireX is finally out in the wild. This means that you will be free to combine any cards of the Radeon HD 3800 series; 3850, 3870 and 3870X2, mix and match any way you want. If you want to run three or four cards doesn’t matter, but it’s only available in Windows Vista.

The overclocker, gprhellas, has claimed the 3DMark 03 world record with a pair of overclocked 3870X2’s using stock coolers. The cards were overclocked to 980/1150MHz and the processor was operating at 5747MHz and scored 132021 points.

According to the company officials, nVidia will no longer support the AGP bus. ATI on the other hand will continue to support it.

VR-Zone has gotten some preliminary 3DMark06 scores on the upcoming GeForce 9800 GX2 and 9800 GTX cards. The setup : Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66GHz processor on a P965 board with Forceware 173.67 drivers and Catalyst driver version 8.451. GeForce 9800 GX2 scored 14225, 9800 GTX scored 13167 while Radeon HD 3870 X2 scored 14301. Nvidia is still tuning up the drivers and the clock speeds aren’t finalized yet so we should be seeing some improvements when launched. Currently, 9800 GX2 is slated for March 18th launch while 9800 GTX is slated for end March.

ATI is working on a new revision of its Radeon HD 3870 X2 card; and if all goes well, you should be able to get one by the middle of Q2, if not even earlier.
